GRC Radio Stations
天堂社区 hosts two radio stations on campus, 89.9 KGRG-FM and KGRG-1, which give students a unique opportunity to gain both on-the-air and behind the scenes experience.
89.9 KGRG-FM鈥檚 award-winning 鈥淭oday鈥檚 Rock鈥� format has a national 鈥� and even an international - reputation. The station is credited with helping discover bands such as Nirvana, Presidents of the USA, MxPx, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, My Chemical Romance and so many more. Today鈥檚 broadcasting students continue the tradition of discovering and supporting new artists. Knuckle Puck, Beartooth, and Black Veil Brides are recent examples.
KGRG alumni have established broadcasting careers in markets across the country.
Seattle radio personalities, who got their start at KGRG-FM, include Ryder (98.9 The Bull), Charlie Harger (KOMO), Ian Reas & Kevin Diers (KISW鈥檚 Metal Shop), Candy Harper (KIRO-FM), Matt 鈥淪lickhawk鈥� Mikolas (KJR-AM), Kimi Kline (KIRO-FM and Q13 TV), Curtis 鈥淐-Rog鈥� Rogers (710 ESPN), and Mike Seibert (KVI-AM).
Around the U.S., KGRG alums include Julie Pilat (Live Radio/Apple Music), David Styles (MY-FM/Los Angeles), Ryan 鈥淏ig Daddy鈥� Nelson (WFUS-FM/Tampa-St. Petersburg), Emily Maguire (KFMB-FM/San Diego) and Corey Olson (KBME/Houston).
Scores of other former KGRG students work behind the scenes in radio sales, programming, news, promotion, production, social media and engineering in Seattle and around the country.
